Storm Team Forecast: watch out for freezing rain
A warm front edges into southeastern Wisconsin this morning, bringing a brief period of freezing rain. Most locations away from Lake Michigan could see up to a tenth of an inch of the icy glaze but as temperatures warm to near 40 degrees the precipitation changes all over to rain by the afternoon. That will melt away at any ice accumulation and we could even top a quarter of an inch or liquid rain through the afternoon so keep the umbrella handy. It will be windy all day as well and stay windy as night falls and temperatures drop to near freezing. As colder air wraps in on the backside of this system we will see any remaining rain shower changing over to light snow through Monday morning. Most spots won't even get an inch of snow through Monday, it will just be windy with a few scattered light snow showers.
Quieter conditions are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday with a bit more sunshine and seasonable temperatures in the low 30s. Another quick clipper moves through on Thursday morning, adding another chance for light snow and a few rain drops into the forecast before drier air works in for the evening. Friday and Saturday look to be the better chances for light snow to accumulate in southeastern Wisconsin.
