Cudahy speeders fear cops, angry mother
CUDAHY- If you are unwise enough to be speeding through Cudahy, the police are only one of your problems.
"I'm one of those mothers that yells at em 'slow down, it's 25," said Melissa Mikolajczak. "I mean it's horrible here."
Melissa Mikolajczak ladles out that scolding to speeders who give her and little boy Jacob an unnecessary scare.
"I walk with my son everywhere," she said. "You can just tell when they speed, it's horrible crossing the street."
This week's call for help directed us to a stretch of Packard Avenue between Ramsey and College.
The limit there is 25 miles per hour, and it is routinely ignored.
More people walk and bike through this part of town than you would think.
Which only amplifies the problem when drivers ignore the law and push the pedal down.
Melissa and Jacob are hopeful this visit from Speedbusters gets the word out and helps stop a near-constant problem.
"We actually have police officers who hide over in this bush over there, and last time I was walking, he caught somebody over there."
So if it's not the cops that bust you on Packard Avenue -- it may be Melissa.
And a scolding from mom is almost as bad as a ticket, right?
