Special AssignmentNo-Cut FaceliftBy Courtny GerrishErase years of age from your face in just hours. We've discovered a brand new "Beauty time machine" called Ulthera. Basically, it's a facelift with no knife and no recovery time... at a fraction of the cost. Quintessa Medical Spa is one of only 25 places in the country to have the brand new technology. Dr. Andrew Campbell lobbied to get the Ulthera in his practice. "I really think this is a groundbreaking, revolutionary technology for nonsurgical rejuvenation of the face," he told us excitedly. Here's how it works: The machine targets the deep tissue of the face with ultrasound waves. That process creates more collagen in the face, and lifts the targeted areas up to two millimeters. "That actually tightens this area and will lift things like your eyebrows, your cheeks, the area around your eyes, jowels, your neck," Dr. Campbell explained. That sounded good to top-rated radio host Carole Caine, who does mornings at WKLH. "I'm a baby boomer, I'm not getting any younger and I could start to see the-- I kind of jowel a little bit, have a downturned mouth," she told us. So she decided to go for the Ultherapy. "Nobody has to even know about it, do it, go home, for a few dollars and you just start looking better," she continued. The process takes just a few hours. Then you go home. Very little pain... no recovery time. It takes about six months to see the full results, but Carole said she already has noticed a change. "Somebody said your skin looks great, what happened... it's very subtle, it happens naturally," she said. Ultherapy is the first non-surgical procedure the FDA calls a true lift. And it's so new, Dr. Campbell didn't have any patients who are the full six months out from surgery. Jeanne Lipscomb had the procedure done just a few weeks ago. But the Germantown mom is also seeing results. "My cheekbones are starting to look a little bit smoother, a little more definition," she showed us. It's not just about looks, Dr. Campbell told us. It's also about feeling good. "They tend to have their head held up a little higher, a little spring in their step, a little gleam in their eye, and it is really fun to see patients back when they have had this rejuvenation and they look basically how they feel on the inside," Campbell said. Carole agrees... And says it makes waking up at 3 a.m. a little easier. "When you feel you look better, everything else is brighter, you carry yourself differently, you act differently around other people, it's a big boost for your self-esteem." Ultherapy costs several thousand dollars. Unlike Botox, you don't have to have repeat treatments. It's unknown how long the results last, but Dr. Campbell thinks it lasts for at least several years.
