Fantasy Football Moms

WAUKESHA - Fantasy Football: It's not just for the boys anymore.

On a normal day, some Waukesha women we talked to are moms, teachers, lawyers, and wives. But on Sunday--it's all about football--fantasy football!

"I think it's a fun way for us women to get together and talk about how our teams are doing," mom Debi McIntyre says.

Sandie Rohrer started the league a few years ago with some of the ladies in her neighborhood.

"We're kind of to the point where we can't just go off shopping all the time, or go out dancing or whatever, so it's kind of a fun, different way to relate to each other," Sandie explains.

Even though this league is all about the ladies, the reason behind it does involve men, and I'm not talking the guys in tight uniforms on the field!

"As you can tell by our rec room, my husband is quite a sports fanatic, so I created this ladies league so I could relate to him more," Sandie says.

But with team names like 'Door County Divas' and 'Denver Dancing Dames', it's not exactly your husband's league. However, Stephanie Schultz admits her husband does play a role on her team. "This is my first year, and to be honest, my husband actually manages my team," she laughs.

Undefeated league leader Debi is an old pro at fantasy football. She admits her husband helps her occasionally, but she has her own technique.

"I go a lot on the projections, what ESPN projects their scores are gonna be. My husband doesn't quite always agree with my strategy there," Debi says.

Then there's Amy James--we saved her for last because she's a Vikings fan. "Unfortunately I don't have a single Vikings player on my team. I do have a few Packers players on my team though," Amy says.

Don't let these ladies' cheerful demeanors fool you. They admit when it comes to the league--it's not always friendly.

"Yes, we do talk smack on the playground," Sandie laughs.

"Right now I'm just having fun, and I'm a big trash talker," Stephanie says.

Fantasy football: Bringing friends and families together--any given Sunday!
