Special AssignmentNo-cut FaceliftBy Courtny GerrishGet rid of some of the signs of aging, without going under the knife. We checked out the new "no-cut" facelift-- a laser treatment that promises to take years off your face by going deeper into your skin than any laser has gone before. Patty Maurillo knew she wanted to do something about her age lines and sun spots. "Right here on the cheeks, also on the bridge of the nose," she pointed out. "I feel like I'm 80 right now, and I want to feel more like my age, which I won't tell you," she told us. So she went to see Dr. Terese Taylor for a new laser treatment, a "pro-fractional" laser that goes super deep, fast. "It will tighten the skin, it will resurface, it will get rid of acne scars, it will get rid of deeper lines," Dr. Taylor explained. The laser first crates tiny holes in Patty's skin. Over time, new healthier tissue will replace the damaged cells, Dr. Taylor said. "The body comes in and the cells will lay down new collagen in the areas where we just bored out the holes." But does it hurt? We asked Patty. "It just feels like tiny needle pricks," she assured us. The pro-fractional treatment is over in about 20 minutes, but the results aren't visible right away. Dr. Taylor said the redness and swelling disappears in a few days. It may take more than one treatment for the best results. And the longevity depends on sun exposure and skin care routines. So how much will this "no-cut facelift" cost you? Patty paid $750 for a laser peel and the pro-fractional laser. Opponents of the procedure say sometimes the results are subtle, and may not be worth the price.
