DELAFIELD - It's a new take on acupuncture. This approach uses different colors of light instead of needles.

You can think of this treatment as a 'realignment' so to speak. Light re-balances the different sides of the body, and gets everything talking.

People who experience 'Acu Light', like Sam Perkins, say the results are wonderful.

"Like a release of stress. A more relaxed feeling," Sam explains.

Sam first had the treatment for a sinus and ear infection.

"It was probably an hour after the treatment that the pain was gone in my ear, my sinuses drained. It was unbelievable," Sam recalls.

Acu Light uses the same pressure points as acupuncture. However, Instead of needles, licensed counselor Jennifer Buchholz applies light to those points.

"Our cells communicate through light, and so when we're projecting light into our body it's only going to improve our bodies' ability to naturally heal itself more effectively," Buchholz explains.

The quick fix takes just 5 minutes. What's called a brain balance puts light in three spots: In front of each ear, and the upper lip. That gets both sides of your brain, functioning equally.

At Affiliate Wellness Group in Delafield, Acu Light is used to target mind, body, and soul.

"Unprocessed emotional issues affect the way the body is storing things and then it manifests as symptoms," Buchholz says.

She uses Acu Light for those symptoms, and therapy to deal with the emotions.

"It definitely brings up different emotions just because you're not as stressed. You don't feel stuck. Then you can kind of get to the root of why you're crabby," Buccholz adds.

Acu Light was developed 25 years ago by a German acupuncturist. It's used to treat anything from migraines to allergies. The cost ranges from $25-$250.

Buchholz is in training and has a limited client base until Spring. There is only one other Acu Light practitioner in Wisconsin.
