Work From Home
Courtny Gerrish
Work from home for a local company: no scam, no money up front.
When Liz Sem Kaminski gave up her job to stay at home, she had a brainstorm. Now she's running her own business, LK Marketing.
"So many people are great in sales and marketing, but they like to go for the gusto and don't like picking up that phone," Kaminski explained.
So she decided to recruit professional callers to call clients, set up appointments, even cold call. The response was very positive, from both clients and potential employees.
"The majority are women who were professional before they decided to have children and now that they have a young family they want to maintain that professional lifestyle and salary yet want to be home when the kids get off the bus," Kaminski explained.
We talked to one such woman, Becky Wooten. The pregnant mother of two wants to be home with her family, but is also a former career woman who wanted to contribute to the family coffers. Her part-time job with LK Marketing allows her to do both.
"My daughter's in all day, my son's in preschool so I can work when they're gone and when they're home I'm able to just be with them," Becky told us.
One of her clients is Fritz Frazier, who owns Winter Services in Milwaukee. Even though winter is months away, this is the company's busy time-- setting up appointments with snow removal clients and getting everything in place for the season ahead.
"It works out really well and there's a lot of communication back and forth," Frazier told us. He's thrilled with the results, and likes supporting local businesses like his own.
"It gives people an opportunity to work and have adult conversation, allows them to feel they're making an impact on somebody's business and they're clearly made an impact on my business," he told us.
Kaminski wants everyone to know her job is the real deal. No scam here.
"I really do get paid, I really do get to sit at home, focused and enjoy what I do," she said emphatically.
In fact, she's looking for more callers willing to be trained to work from home.
