ELM GROVE - Harlan Weinberger has lived in Elm Grove for the past 15 years.

"On our street, it's nuts the way people go flying," said Weinberger.

And it's safe to say he's involved with his neighborhood. A neighborhood that he claims can be scary at times.

"It can be kind of dangerous," he said.

So when he told us about how fast people drive on Watertown Plank Road near Wisconsin Ave, we thought he should be the one who calls them out on it.

"I'm calling it out? Alright," he said. "Here we go, here we go."

Armed with our Speedbusters gun, he found many drivers following the 25 mile an hour speed limit, including a school bus.

"She's doing the limit. She slowed down," he said.

But there were a number of drivers who were not.

"Someone's going 39. Yep, here we go. 37," he said.

And it's not just Watertown Plank Road; Harlan said his street nearby on Woodland Avenue is just as bad.

"We think people need to slow down and give us a foot on the brake instead of a foot on the accelerator pedal," Weinberger said.

They have signs that read, 'Thanks for slowing down' posted throughout the neighborhood in hopes drivers will get the message.

“When you just do the basic math you really aren't saving time at all and the consequences are far greater if you hit somebody," he said.

It happened recently when he claims a speeding driver hit a neighbor's dog.

"Maybe they don't stop to give a second thought," he said.

So he's asking for that second thought before we all get behind the wheel.
