Speedbusters: Town Of Lisbon

WAUKESHA COUNTY - It's a county road in the Waukesha area that's had a lot of accidents. That's just one reason neighbors want the speed limit lowered.

Jay Olstad takes a look in this week's edition of Speedbusters.

Talk to Judy Kulinski and you'll know there is one thing that drives her: her children’s safety.

“This is a great neighborhood and has tons of kids. It’s scary. We have to literally run across the road,” Kulinski said.

She lives right next to County Road KF and Bayberry Drive in the town of Lisbon.

“People are just driving too fast on the road,” Kulinski said.

The speed limit is 55, but around the corner near her house, the advisory speed is 35. At the intersection just down the road, it's 40. Some of the drivers are going well above that.

“54!” Olstad said.

Neighbors say the intersection is pretty bad when it comes to accidents. In fact, a lot of them end up in backyards.

"We'll hear a crash every now and then and know something’s back there,” Justin Dewees said.

It’s why Speedbusters came back Monday, this time with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.

"The public needs to be cognizant of speed limits and also the advisory signs,” Waukesha County Sheriff Steve Pederson said.

Not only did Deputy Chad Stenulson bring his laser gun Monday, but also a radar trailer.

“I’d like to see the speed limit lowered to at least 45,” Kulinski said.

Hoping drivers finally see the light and slow down.

The sheriff’s department will now record these speeds, and if they’re too fast, they may recommend the speed limit be lowered.
