Speedbusters: Moorland Road

Speedbusters: Moorland Road

Jay Olstad

BROOKFIELD - Every week we ask for emails, and every week we get a lot, including some from Brookfield.

So that's why this time, we left our Speedbusters gun behind and brought along the Brookfield Police Department.

"You don't have to be sneaky on this. It's kind of a false thing you hear people say all the time. People just got watch their speeds, “said Sgt. Mark Tushaus from the Brookfield Police Department.

Not many of them did on Moorland Road near the mall. The speed limit there is 35 miles per hour; the drivers...not so much.

"Lead car at 54 miles per hour," Sgt. Tushaus yelled out to another officer.

"Is there any legitimate reason why you're driving at that speed today?" the officer asked when he pulled the driver over.

It's no surprise we're here. When it comes to speed related crashes Moorland Road is the third worst in the city of Brookfield.

"I worry about it all the time and no one can see them because they're shorter than the car," said parent, Jennifer Dietsche.

She's talking about her small children, Ashley and Zachary.

"It's the scariest thing that can happen," she said.

It's why Brookfield Police are out here.

"Ford, right here," yelled Sgt. Tushaus.

And they say they will be for a long time to come.

This speed wave is part of a grant Brookfield Police received from the state. It allows them to spend more resources to enforce the speed limit.
