Live at Noon: Diabetic Alert Dog Fundraiser
We have an exciting update on a story we brought you last October!
You may remember Nathan Hatch. He's a 12-year-old from Brookfield fighting a severe form of Type 1 diabetes. For the last two years, his parents have barely been able to sleep at night, afraid he'll go into diabetic shock. But thanks to donations from generous viewers, the family was able to purchase a diabetic alert dog named 'Sunny'. The dog detects high and low blood sugars with his nose. Sunny and Nathan are actually just meeting for the first time, Since Sunny has been out West in training for months. They were in our studio, along with Nathan's mom Cynthia and Ed Peeples--a trainer with the National Institute of Diabetic Alert Dogs.
