10 Year Old Boy is Positively Milwaukee
KENOSHA - A special student is enrolled at Christian Life School in Kenosha.
Ten-year-old Quinn Vickers has been on a mission to help the less fortunate. His mom says Quinn's first step was to contact TODAYSTJM4.
Monique Vickers, reveals, "When you called him and you were talking to him he said "'Mom Miss Meekins wants you.'" I thought he was joking, but here we are!"
Quinn Vickers is the brainchild behind a food drive to help the needy. All of the goods will be donated to a food pantry run by the school's church. That pantry is "Hands of the Lamb" Ministries.
Students will be able to bring in non-perishable food through February 14th. All the donated goods will stay in the community.
The school has already collected dozens of items.
Why a food drive in February? Quinn says, "Because most people only think about the poor during the holidays. I wanted to give to people during the months that there weren't that many holidays around."
Principal Christie Gould says the food drive I a perfect lesson for the faith based school. Gould adds, “It’s really good to see when our students want to get out and help the community in another environment."
Quinn's mother Monique Vickers is proud of her child. "It makes me feel very very good, because when he was a child we didn't know if he would make it. For him to have a heart like he has, he's a blessing, he's a child that every parent wants.
And Quinn beams looking at the school's table filled with donated food.
He's grateful to all who have shown their support. And with the poise of a child well beyond his years Quinn adds, "I want to say thank you to everybody who helped me with this."
