Positively MilwaukeeTeen Achiever is Positvely MilwaukeeBy Gary ReistadMILWAUKEE - We first told you about LaQuita Grinnage back in the spring. We found her volunteering at the Mary Ryan Boys and Girls Club on Sherman Boulevard in Milwaukee. At that time LaQuita had just won the 2008 Northwestern Mutual and Wisconsin State Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year. Now, LaQuita can boast and even bigger honor. She's been named the Midwest Region Youth of the Year by the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. LaQuita already has big plans. She tells TMJ4, "I want to go to Tennessee State University. I want to major in pre-med, and get a cosmetology license to help pay my way through college and medical school. " Growing up Grinnage faced a host of challenges including homelessness. But that did not stop her from serving others and earning a GPA of 3.7. A perfect foundation for this Hamilton High School Graduate who hopes to become a pediatrician, and continue to give back. |
