Run to Remember Murder Victim

By Gary Reistad

MILWAUKEE - The death of Miller Executive Vic Milford embarrassed and outraged many in Milwaukee. The South African native was gunned down last year after a robbery attempt in the Walker's Point neighborhood.

Lorri Aiono-Dimoff was a good friend of Milford and his partner. She is still grieving. Dimoff sadly notes, "Losing Chris (Vic's partner who returned to South Africa) and Vic made me realize good things and people can be taken away from you with the snap of a finger."

Though he was from another country, Milford did a lot for Milwaukee. That's why Dimoff founded the Vic Milford Charitable Foundation.

Money raised will go to charities Milford supported, like the Milwaukee County Zoo, Ronald McDonald House, and PrideFest.

Dimoff admits, "Whatever I do will never bring him back. Whatever I do will never change the night January 26th. But what I'm doing will change the life another person, will change the mentality of the community. That's how I want to remember Vic."

Dimoff has also spearheaded a number of events to raise money in memory of her slain friend. Back in March she held a fashion show in her friend's honor. Dimoff says, "I want to be his voice. He did not have a choice that night. I feel that's my job. His partner had to be sent back to South Africa. So my job is to continue Vic's work in the community" Dimoff goes on to say, "I don't want to remember how he died, I need to remember how he lived."

On Saturday, June 13, Dimoff has organized the "Vic Milford Run for Charity". It starts at the Riptide Seafood Bar and Grill and goes around Harbor Island ending at Summerfest. Vic Milford Run for Charity<.b>
