MILWAUKEE – When you think of Harley’s 105th anniversary, you probably do not think of nuns, but a Michigan motorcycle club has formed a special connection with the Sisters of Charity of St. Joan Antida.

Their story is Positively Milwaukee.

The ladies on the back of bikes at the local headquarters of the Sisters of Charity of St. Joan Antida on Milwaukee’s northwest side are born to be…well, mild!

“They’re just fantastic ladies. We really love them and appreciate them too,” Dave Matuzeski from the Muskegon Motorcycle Gang said.

The nuns have been busy, hosting the Muskegon Motorcycle Gang that was in town for Harley’s 105th Anniversary.

"It's a way of us sharing the beauty that we have here with people and not keeping it for ourselves. It’s a nice way to extend our community to the broader community,” Sister Jennifer Daul said.

The bikers stayed on the retreat grounds for Harley’s 100th reunion five years ago. The Muskegon group felt so at home on the retreat grounds, they asked to come back this year..

Over the years, members have kept touch with the ladies, often sending cards.

"We ride hard, we play hard, and we’re just a big group of friends that feel the brother and sisterhood. We feel very blessed to be here again at this facility 'cause it is just outstanding,” Bill Carothers with the Muskegon Motorcycle Gang said.

The sisters are even honorary members of the group.

"Oh they are so wonderful. This place is beautiful, the grounds, the sisters are so giving,” Theresa Schaefer with the Muskegon Motorcycle Gang said.

The bikers call the nuns a blessing.

They may travel different roads, but when they roll toward Milwaukee and the sisters of St. Joan Antida, it's like a highway to heaven.

“Milwaukee is an unbelievable host. Everyone waves to you, treats you with respect, it's fantastic here,” Matuzeski said.
