MILWAUKEE-The Mummies of the World Exhibit has wrapped up but the Milwaukee Public Museum is now unearthing artifacts from Cleopatra's era.

Judy Rice’s parents actually lived in Cairo for some time, so she is thrilled about the upcoming exhibit, she tells TODAY’S TMJ4’s Jesse Ritka Cleopatra is inspiring.  “Cleopatra is one of the most fascinating women, I feel, in history.  She rose to power and to heights that many women have not repeated.”

This October, 150 Egyptian treasures will be set up in the Milwaukee Public Museum, including two 16-foot tall colossal statues.

Mark Lach of the Arts & Exhibits International explains how these statues were part of Cleopatra’s life.  “Colossal statues that stood on either side most likely of a temple she would have walked right between those.”

The exhibit is unique; many of the artifacts were actually discovered underwater in the Mediterranean Sea.  "Not only are we brought into Cleopatra's world, but we're brought into the world of Franck Goddio, the underwater world.  So all that high def. video of the discovery as the sand is blown back, and the objects come to life, they're brought up to the surface, they're conserved and now they're brought here to Milwaukee," says Lach.

Museum patrons will be able to have a face to face encounter with the ruins, just like the underwater archaeologists.  "Many of them recovered from the Bay of Alexandria, the place where Cleopatra lived, where she worked, where she worshiped, where she ruled. Pieces of her life that have never been shown before, never been discovered that really give us insight to this most powerful woman of all time,” says Lach.

Judy Rice hopes that Cleopatra will be an inspiration to others as well, “Young girls will learn that a woman ruled Egypt for quite a number of years."

Tickets are already on sale but you won't be able to walk like and Egyptian through these halls until October 14.
