Positively Milwaukee: The USO
Soon there will be a special place to help troops traveling through MItchell International. Candyce Hanus, Executive Director of USO Wisconsin is excited she recently got approval to open a permanent canteen to help military troops traveling through Mitchell International. Hanus explains, "Right now were looking at behind Concourse D behind the security area to ensure the maximum safety for our military people." Recently USO Wisconsin set up a holiday canteen for troops going home for the holidays. Hanus says, "This is important to us because family is really important to our military and they spend a lot of time away whether it's at boot camp or training. Anytime we can have to bring families together is just a blessing for us" Hanus is thrilled there will now be a permanent site to offer comfort to our military heroes.She notes "There will be food beverages video games tv's recliners and so forth to make it as comfortable as we can." Hanus hopes the canteen will be open by April. The USO gets funding through private donations. It receives no government funding.
