4 on your side4 On Your Side: Women's Prosperity GroupBy Courtny GerrishIn this economy, everyone is looking for ways to maximize profit, and boost that bottom line. For women, there's a group called 'The Women's Prosperity Group', a unique group of women teaching others how to cash in. These are women with a purpose--the passionate pursuit of prosperity. Nancy Matthews is the fearless leader of the group. She says, "What I found is there is a financial connection that happens between women, and you open up doors for women to get together and mastermind the real power of what they have inside could come out and blossom and flourish." It's a 'Sister Act' when it comes to the women in Prosperity Network. Siblings Trish and Susan teamed with Nancy to create the network. The focus: Giving a boost to women-based business. Artist Evelyn Ballin is new to the group and says it's working for her. "It's a great way to meet other people, local business owners, women that want to network and meet and create businesses that thrive," Evelyn says. Instead of focusing on the recession, these women are making meaningful connections through brainstorming, networking, encouraging, and empowering. "So the solution is getting out there and finding the information from those people you can connect with and do business with. That's what we all need now. It's no time to hide under the covers. It's time to come out and show who you really are," Nancy explains. Lydia Harris is living proof it pays off. She and her son launched a book and a business. "One of the biggest things I've gotten is courage, and that's one of the things that is so difficult when you bring forth an idea in the world. To get the courage to stand up and talk to people," Lydia says. The Women's Prosperity Network helps members through financial education, and teaching other business tools and techniques. It's also a place to ask for help if you're stumped about your next step. "You know that they say, 'Find your passion and money will follow.' There is something they left out, 'Do what you love, then get really good at it, then the money will follow,'" Matthews says. One thing they're working on now: Using social networking to help build businesses. The Prosperity Network is based in Florida, but they do accept members from all over the country. The program offers weekend retreats and holds an annual expo. |
