A follow up to an exclusive I-Team investigation: the I-Team has learned the first deadbeat dad they tracked down…is in big trouble.

Daniel Scott refuses to pay his child support.

Over the past three years, he’s argued with the I-Team, literally pushed them around, and refused to take care of his young daughter.

Now, the big time deadbeat is behind bars.

“I gave you the facts of the story,” Daniel Scott said.

TODAY’S TMJ4’s John Mercure: “Let go of the microphone.”

“No,” Scott said.

John Mercure: “Why are you running from us like you’re running from your responsibility to this little girl?”

“I told you the facts of the story,” Scott said.

The facts are that Scott the deadbeat has had dozens of court hearings. When the I-Team met him, he owed his young daughter almost $40,000, and hadn't made payments for years.

(Scott grabs Mercure.)

John Mercure: “You owe this woman…get your hand off me.”

“You think you’re concerned about my daughter?” Scott asked.

John Mercure: “I am.”

“No, you’re not,” Scott said.

John Mercure: “You’re a deadbeat dad.”

“Oh, you’re going to be deadbeat on the ground if you don’t shut up,” Scott said.

Scott was dragged into court and charged with seven felonies. He spent thousands of dollars fighting his obligations…and he lost.

Scott was ordered to pay up, stay sober and not commit any crime, or be sentenced to jail.

Guess what?

A few months ago, Scott was arrested for an alleged theft and once again, he’s not paying his child support.

Now, he’s sitting behind bars.

It devastates his young daughter.

“It devastates me because I don’t feel like I have a dad. I just feel like he’s a man,” Scott’s daughter said.

The man who refuses to take care of his daughter, could be locked up for quite some time.

“People need to know that if they’re not going to meet their court ordered obligation to pay child support, there are going to be felony consequences, criminal charges,” Waukesha County District Attorney Barb Michels said.

Every time the I-Team has seen Scott, he’s been unapologetic.

John Mercure: “The court says you owe money.”

“Well…the court. I told you about…” Scott said.

John Mercure: “So the court is wrong?”

“Why don’t you do a story about father’s rights and the state of Wisconsin and how screwed up it is,” Scott said.

According to a court document the I-Team received Wednesday, Scott is such a deadbeat that he now owes almost $100,000 in unpaid child support and interest.
