Dirty DiningDirty Dining: New No. 1 ChineseBy Courtny GerrishMILWAUKEE - A moldy ice machine and raw meat kept at unsafe temperatures. New No. 1 Chinese restaurant in the 770 North Jefferson building near Cathedral Square. When we first stopped by the owner wasn't there, but he did offer to show us the kitchen, the next day. Inspectors found mold build up in the ice machine. An open container of rice noodles sitting under duct work. All food must be stored in a sealed package. Employees moved the noodles and covered the dish with saran wrap. And this repeat violation. Raw marinated pork sitting out at 70 degrees, which could cause bacteria to grow. The safe cold temperature is 41degrees. Owner Billy Chen tells me they put that meat in a cooler. New No.1 Chinese was also written up for not having soap at the kitchen hand washing sink and fruit flies in the restaurant. Chen claims everything has been cleaned up. |
