Dirty Dining: Jumpin' Jacks Grille

Update: Health inspectors went back through Jumpin' Jacks Grille. The restaurant has cleaned things up and now has a clean health inspection report. MILWAUKEE – Health inspectors found some violations at a new restaurant on the north side, but one of the owners tells TODAY’S TMJ4 customers have nothing to worry about. Jumpin’ Jacks Grille on 41st and Capitol opened in early July. They have Italian sausage, smoked sausage polish sausage…and health violations. Inspectors found things like a cooler kept too warm. Raw steaks were at 53 degrees. Manager Jackson Smith blames the problem on condensation. "It's supposed to be 41 or below and here it's actually at 30 degrees,” Smith said. Inspectors also saw a cook touching ready to eat food, like lettuce, with bare hands. Smith claims they are now up to code. “Put on some sanitized gloves which are here and also by the grill area. So there's no problem in that area,” Smith said. Inspectors also found dirty rags sitting on counter tops and no sanitizing solution in the kitchen. "The problem was identified. We've addressed it, and we will continue to do so," Smith said. They also found a rice dish and raw chicken sitting out at 62 and 65 degrees, and chicken not thawed correctly. “Didn't turn the water on. To have running water on the chicken. So we know that's a potential problem,” Smith said. Smith claims Jumpin' Jacks Grille will stay on track. "We want to hold this restaurant, and the food that we serve, in a high standard,” Smith said.
