MILWAUKEE - A place for fried chicken and a place for subs: two local restaurants are doing things right in the kitchen. Popeye’s Chicken on 61st and Silver Spring serves up fried chicken…and is keeping things clean in the kitchen. “You just have to stay on top of it. That’s it, that’s it. If you have a floor crew, then everything’s fine,” Manager Nysheicka Morehead said. TODAY’S TMJ4’s Courtny Gerrish: “We’re giving you the Blue Ribbon Award, so folks, when they come in and order, they can see it.” “Oh okay, thank you,” Morehead said. Over on the east side, on Farwell, PJ’s Original Subs and Clubs also gets a Blue Ribbon Award. “The health department orders from us. That gives us a lot of credibility here,” Co-Owner Francisco Mojica said. The deli has many loyal customers and new owners improved the shop’s clean factor. “Since then I do believe we’ve turned it around a lot,” Mojica said. PJ’s gets the second Blue Ribbon Award.
