MILWAUKEE - It's a popular Irish pub in downtown Milwaukee, with problems in the kitchen. Because of what health inspectors found this restaurant is now making some changes. County Clare is an Irish pub and restaurant, located at Juneau and Astor. Food handlers were coughing and touching their face. Inspectors had to tell them to wash their hands. There was a build up of food and dirt on cutting boards and food debris on meat slicers. The restaurant was also not cooling food properly. Potentially hazardous food was kept too warm. A cooler holding burger patties, roast beef and turkey slices was at 50-60 degrees. The safe temperature is 41. Also in the report, a note about food handlers "unsure of food safety responsibilities" like when to wash their hands and final cooking temperatures. The general manager didn't want to go on camera but did comment over the phone. He says County Clare is taking these violations very seriously, and the staff has already started a full training seminar on food safety. New coolers have also been ordered. |
