Dirty Dining: Rick Inn

Courtny Gerrish

MILWAUKEE - A restaurant on Milwaukee's northwest side has a mouse problem.

At least that's what inspectors found, but the owner says "no way."

TODAY’S TMJ4 visited Rick Inn on 93rd and Capitol two years ago.

Now, we’re following up on another inspection report.

Health inspectors found things like open containers of food, with no expiration dates. The expiration date tells the restaurant when the food goes bad.

The owner says they are keeping up on expiration dates, but when we stopped by we found several things in the fridge, expired.

Inspectors also found no thermometers to check food temperatures. The restaurant now has those in the kitchen.

Inspectors found dirty dishes stored with clean ones and dirty knives in with the clean utensils.
The restaurant was ordered to do some deep cleaning, including the meat slicer.

Inspectors also saw two dead mice, between refrigerators in the basement.

Owner Steve Rickun says “no way.”

"That actually is what was found behind the refrigerator," said Rickun. "This was perceived as two dead mice. It's rubber."

Rickun says he's following up with the Health Department.
