Dirty Dining: Los Burritos Tapatios
Courtny Gerrish
MILWAUKEE - A restaurant on the far south side had some violations to clean up.
At Los Burritos Tapatios on 27th and Bolivar, inspectors found cooked steak on the hot holding grill at 120 degrees. Safe temperature, to prevent bacteria growth, is 135.
Owner Jose Jimenez says they now keep the meat in a bin to make sure it's warm enough.
Inspectors also found cutting knives stored in an area that's "not clean." Those are now hanging on a magnetic strip.
"Sometimes we forgot. Working and very busy to put away," Jimenez said.
Inspectors also found cooked food, like rice and beans, not marked with an expiration date. When we stopped by some items still were not labeled.
There was no soap at one hand wash sink. Employees fixed the problem during inspection.
The sanitizer solution also tested too high. Inspectors called it toxic and unsafe for food contact surfaces.
The owner says everything's been cleaned up.
