Dirty Dining: J & J Fish & Chicken
Courtny Gerrish
MILWAUKEE - A popular fish and chicken place has been written up inspectors twice in the last four months.
When TODAY’S TMJ4’s Courtny Gerrish stopped by, customers were not happy.
J&J Fish and Chicken on 32nd and Villard has some violations to clean up, but the man behind the counter told us he was too "busy" to answer our questions.
Inspectors saw the cook washing his hands, without soap. That cook also doesn't know the "safe" cooked temperature for potentially hazardous food.
A pan of cooked chicken was sitting out at 64 degrees. It had to be thrown out.
A customer heard the violations and asked for her money back. She left with her cash, not happy about J&J's problems in the kitchen.
"I did not know that. I was unaware of that. I would never have ordered from there,” Tammy Cleveland said.
Inspectors also noticed an "obnoxious" odor inside a cooler holding raw fish and chicken. Liquid from the food was pooling on the shelves and bottom of the fridge.
Inspectors also found food storage containers with dirty stains on all surfaces. They were ordered cleaned up.
Again, this was J&J Fish and Chicken on 32nd and Villard, not to be confused with "JJ Fish and Chicken."
