Dirty Dining: Villa's Mexican Restaurant
Courtny Gerrish
MILWAUKEE – Inspectors reprimanded a south side restaurant for no hand washing and employees touching customer’s food.
That’s what inspectors found at Villa’s Mexican Restaurant on 25th and Greenfield. Inspectors saw employees touching ready-to-eat food with bare hands. The restaurant was ordered to use tongs, utensils or gloves.
Inspectors say no one washed their hands while they were there.
Inspectors also found a plastic bowl floating in a container of rice beverage, which is a cross-contamination risk. Inspectors say employees were grabbing the bowl and then scooping out the drink.
Inspectors also found large pans of frozen meat on the kitchen floor. Food has to be stored six to eight inches off the ground.
They also found hot food, not cooled at the right temperature and potentially hazardous food with no expiration dates.
Inspectors also saw flies in the restaurant and mouse droppings in the basement.
No one at Villa’s Mexican Restaurant wanted to talk to TODAY’S TMJ4 about the violations.
