MILWAUKEE – There are some things to clean up at an east side restaurant.

The owners of Maharaja on North Farwell talked to TODAY’S TMJ4’s Courtny Gerrish about their health inspection report.

The restaurant's been serving up Indian fare since 1997. Owner Charnit Bolla says they like to keep things clean.

“We never have like big violation with the Health Department,” Bolla said.

Inspectors found cooked chicken sitting out at room temperature on the kitchen floor.

"We have sitting out because we were cleaning at that time,” Bolla said.

According to Bolla, workers were cleaning both the cooler and freezer, so food was left out.

Live and dead bugs were found in an open container of lentils. Bolla says it came that way when they ordered the lentils from a company in Chicago.

"We called them. They said ‘put it on the side, we will come and pick it up.’ They want to see how they are, so they can give us a credit." Bolla claims those lentils were not for customers.

Inspectors also found uncovered food in a cooler, and raw meat stored over cooked food. That's a cross contamination risk.

The owners say everything has been cleaned up.
