Dirty Dining: Marco's Pizza
Courtny Gerrish
MILWAUKEE - They've been serving up pizzas in the Milwaukee area since 1959.
At Marco's Pizza on 27th and College, inspectors found cigarette butts on the kitchen floor, and employee food and drinks sitting on top of cutting boards.
A cooler was too warm at 47 degrees. The safe temperature for potentially hazardous food is 41.
TODAY'S TMJ4's Courtny Gerrish talked to the owner by phone. He describes the kitchen as "normal" and open, meaning customers can see everything that goes on. He also said Marco's has never had any complaints from customers.
Inspectors also found cooked food, like lasagna and Italian beef, with no expiration dates. A repeat violation.
There were also flies in the restaurant. Marco's Pizza was ordered to keep its doors closed, to keep the insects out.
The owner did say they are cleaning things up and will pass the follow up inspection.
