Dirty Dining: The Original Pancake House

MILWAUKEE - It's "Everything Breakfast" on the menu of this Milwaukee restaurant, but inspectors recently found some issues in the kitchen.

The Original Pancake House on Downer Avenue: this cozy breakfast spot just celebrated two years on the city's east side. According to the health report, the inspector observed an employee picking up bacon from the floor and then serving it to a customer.

The owner did not want to speak on camera but said the employee most likely dropped the food on a counter. He also questioned the inspector's vantage point.

Also, an employee was touching raw food and then ready to eat items. The restaurant now only uses tongs when working with customer's food.

And some problems keeping potentially hazardous food, cold enough. Eggs were sitting out at 53 degrees. Pancake batter was at 48 degrees. The safe temperature is 41.

The owner contends the food was not sitting out long enough to make people sick. As a precaution the restaurant is now keeping eggs and batter in a cooler, instead of the grill line.
