Blue Ribbon Awards

Courtny Gerrish

MILWAUKEE - TODAY'S TMJ4's Courtny Gerrish is handing out Blue Ribbon Awards again, and you might be surprised by one of this week's choices.

The Historic Turner Hall Restaurant downtown is a hot spot after Buck's games and is also serving up clean dining. The manager is happy to get the word out.

"That's pretty exciting, so we want the Milwaukee public to know that it's clean and safe to come to Historic Turner Hall," Matthew Vance said.

Another restaurant serves organic tilapia, raised on a 19th century farm in urban Milwaukee. The founder of Growing Power on 55th and Silver Spring says, "This building we're standing in was actually constructed in the late 1920's."

The non-profit markets its fish to area restaurants. It also grows and sells plants, fresh fruit and veggies. Not a typical Blue Ribbon Award winner, but they're doing good things and had a clean health inspection.
