Dirty Dining: China Hut
Courtny Gerrish
MILWAUKEE - The owner of a restaurant on the south side says all their violations have been cleaned up, but our camera shows there are still problems in the kitchen.
At China Hut on 51st and Howard, potentially hazardous food was left out at room temperature. The owner says it only happens during the lunch hour.
"See after 1:30 or 2:00, then we put all the things in the refrigerator," Kim Tian said.
We saw eggs and fried rice still sitting out after the lunch rush.
Inspectors also saw the owner and other employees touching raw meat and eggs, and then rarely using soap to wash their hands. The owner claims those employees were new hires.
"We talk to them already to make sure everybody wash their hands," Tian said.
Tian claims everything was cleaned up, but we saw uncovered bowls of food, sitting on the floor even after inspectors cited the restaurant. Employees hurried to move them.
Also cooked rice sitting under the towel dispenser. Wet hands can drip into the food. Inspectors also ordered that moved.
