MILWAUKEE - Food kept at the wrong temperature and employees not washing their hands.

Those are the violations found at a Milwaukee burger joint.

At Omega Burger on 78th and Capitol, you can order up breakfast, burgers and everything in between.

TODAY’S TMJ4’s Courtny Gerrish: “Can you comment on some of the things that were found in the violations?”

“I think you need to talk to another manager.”

Tuna and chicken salad was found to be kept too warm, at 62 degrees. The safe temperature is 41, something that could make customers sick.

Employees were found to be touching raw meat and then food ready for customers to eat without washing their hands or changing gloves. That employee went outside wearing his gloves.

Clean utensils were found stored in a greasy bin and racks of buns were found sitting on the floor.

Raw meat and poultry was found stored above and directly on top of ready to eat food, which is a cross contamination risk.

Hot food was found to not be kept warm enough. Fried chicken was found at 80 degrees and sausage and corned beef hash was found at 82 degrees. This is a repeat violation.

“Hazardous food must be held hot at 135 degrees or above.”

Also, not all prepared food was marked with expiration dates, which is another repeat violation.

TODAY’S TMJ4 left a message with the manager about Omega Burger’s violations. We did not hear back.
