Dirty Dining: Roach Crawling In KFC Kid's Meal

MILWAUKEE - A nine-year-old found a nasty surprise in her kid's meal.

A Kentucky Fried Chicken on the city's northwest side has had problems with bugs before. Something one of our viewer's didn't know, until he sat down to dinner a few weeks ago.

"She let out a loud scream right away," said Morris Allen.

His daughter had something crawling around in her food. That something was a roach.

"He was healthy, alive...she was screaming to kill it, kill it, kill it." A tough request said Allen. "He was crawling all in these different compartments so it was hard for me to capture him."

The Allen's picked up their food from a KFC on 60th and Congress. Last October inspectors found live and dead cockroaches "throughout the establishment," according to the health report.

After we passed Mr. Allen's complaint on to the health department, inspectors went back through the restaurant. Again, they found roaches, both alive and dead.

"I think it's a health issue if nothing else. Would you want your family to be eating food that roaches or whatever or other pests have been in?" Allen said.

KFC Vice President, Doug Mueller, didn't want to go on camera but told us the company is not taking this lightly. They are working with a pest control company and customers should not be concerned about their health.

A statement that doesn't seem to be swaying Allen.

"I won't go there for sure, or any KFC's right now," Allen said.

The restaurant did offer to refund Allen's money. He declined saying he feels the company owes him more than that.
