Dirty Dining: China Dragon
Courtny Gerrish
NEW BERLIN - A viewer complaint to TODAY'S TMJ4 lead health inspectors to visit a New Berlin restaurant. It's a place that's had problems before.
China Dragon on National and Moorland: we were there last February. Now this restaurant has been written up, again.
The owner says she hasn't had any customers complain, but the health department found problems in the kitchen.
Things like employees not washing their hands. Inspectors saw an employee touching raw meat and then ready to eat food. Someone also cleaned the floor and then went back to handling food.
Surfaces and equipment were dirty. Cooked rice was kept warm in a unit that wasn't clean.
"We just always try to keep very good clean for everything for the equipment. We just always try. It's not 100 percent sure," Owner Xiao Huan said.
Egg rolls, fried rice and cooked chicken were all left out at room temperature. Potentially hazardous food that could make customers sick.
"I don't think so, because the kitchen is a little wet something I just not guarantee you safe come to the kitchen," Huan said.
The viewer who complained noticed food sitting outside the back door for at least a day. The restaurant tells me the cooler was broken, so they put the vegetables outside.
Inspectors went back through Thursday; China Dragon has cleaned things up.
