MILWAUKEE- It's all about the sandwich this week as we hand out two Blue Ribbon Awards for clean dining.
Jeppa Joes, the new food cart in Milwaukee. Bringing you sandwiches full of international flavor. Owner Jeff Steckel tells us, "things from all over the globe. It's definitely heavily influenced from Asia because I've done a lot of traveling in Asia."
This is a long time dream of Steckel's.
From jerk chicken to the Korean BBQ beef all sandwiches are $6, and it's all fresh. Steckel uses local ingredients whenever he can and works hard to keep things clean. "I bleach it down every night when I get back to the kitchen. It's all stainless steel so it's really easy to wipe up and clean down." Inspectors gave Jeppa Joes a clean health report, so Steckel gets our first Blue Ribbon Award.
Another kind of sandwich being served up at Cousins on 76th and Good Hope in Milwaukee. Manager Connie Pytlik tells us cleaning is an all day process. "It's a constant battle almost to make sure everything stays clean." Employees follow a daily and weekly checklist. "If you're not keeping up you're just going to fall way behind. Here the crew does an excellent job of taking care of everything."
This Cousins had a spotless health inspection, and for that gets our second Blue Ribbon Award.
