Two Blue Ribbon Awards given out for clean health inspections
MILWAUKEE- We're handing out our last two Blue Ribbon Awards of the year. A spot with a Boutique Hotel of the Year Award, and a great place to get a cup of joe.
The Iron Horse Hotel just south of Milwaukee's downtown. It's won national and international awards and if you're dining here it's all clean. A spotless health inspection for the restaurant Smyth, in-room dining, catering and the bar. Everything prepared out of one little kitchen.
"The chefs do a lot of work back there for as small a space that it is," Food and Beverage director Jesse Wilder told us. "It gets used so heavily it's a challenge to keep it clean but they do it."
And this place is committed to clean. "We also have an overnight cleaning service that comes in just to pick up the extra slack," Wilder said. For that The Iron Horse Hotel gets our first Blue Ribbon Award.
Over on Brady Street Dryhootch is more than just a spot to get coffee and a baked treat. It's a non profit organization that supports veterans.
"We do that with peer mentor programs and outreach services that we have free on our second floor," manager Abbey Manalli tells TODAY'S TMJ4. On the first floor, everyone's welcome for a cup of joe. And for its clean health inspection Dryhootch gets our second Blue Ribbon Award. "Customer service and cleanliness are our two main focuses here, but to find out we're getting a Blue Ribbon I was excited!"
