As the new year begins, some of us may look back at the troubles of 2009 and resolve to avoid having the same things happen in 2010.

When making your resolutions, here are a five things that you might want to put on your list:

• Resolve to pay bills on time to avoid costly penalties, higher interest rates, and to keep our credit scores in tip top shape.

• Guard your personal information, and remember to update software for virus and spyware protection.

• Read the fine print, and terms and conditions before agreeing to special offers.

• Check out the reputation of a businesses before buying a product or service.

• Adhere to the golden rule: "If it looks to good to be true, it probably is."

You may not be able to stop all trouble that comes your way in 2010. But by paying attention, taking immediate action, and trusting your gut instincts, lets hope that this year is better than last.
