Are you tired of getting calls from people or businesses that you would rather not hear from?

There may be a few things that you can do about it.

Lately, we have been getting a number of complaints from consumers who are tired of getting calls from telemarketers, scam artists, or nuisance callers.

Although you may not be able to stop all of these calls, here are some suggestions of how you may be able to eliminate a majority of them.

• Register for the state and federal do-not- call lists. This can help to cut down the number of telemarketing calls that you receive.

• If you receive calls from charities who you do not want to hear from, ask them to remove your number from their database.

• If the same caller calls repeatedly, and you do not know who they are or why they are calling, you may be able to get more information by searching for blogs about the phone number on the internet.

• If the calls are persistent or harrassing, contact your telephone service provider to ask about services for blocking or tracing the number.

If nothing else, consider using an answering machine to pick up the call. Telemarketers and scam artists may give up after awhile if they are unable to reach a live person.
