Money For Energy

By Karen Stiles

Are you worried about how high your gas and electric bills may go this winter? Well, although you might not be able to do much about the price, you can control the cost if you use less energy. But how do you do this without sacrificing a warm house or living in the dark? Well, fortunately, there is a program known as focus on energy that not only teaches you how to use less energy, but also offers resources and financial incentives for making your home more energy efficient. Some of the incentives offered by focus on energy include: • Cash back rewards for installing energy efficient furnaces, solar hot water heaters, or using energy efficient light bulbs. • Loans for installing energy efficient heating systems, and windows, or making other energy efficient improvements. • And, grants for individuals and groups who research the impact of energy use on our environment. If you are considering one of these programs or incentives, don’t wait. Many of these programs have deadlines that expire at the end of October and December.
