Coupon scams
MILWAUKEE - Have you come across an online coupon that seems too good to be true?
It could be part of a coupon scam.
We all want to save money, and using coupons can be a great way to save on products and services.
Not all coupons nor the sites they are posted on are as legitimate as they may seem.
Before you download a coupon or take part in a special offer to receive them, make sure that you are dealing with reputable sites, check things out before releasing personal information.
Look for tell tale signs that the coupon may be counterfeit such as fuzzy or uneven graphics, no barcode, vague or missing terms and conditions, or no purchase necessary.
Steer clear of high pressure schemes that involve buying and selling coupons, especially if they claim you can get rich quick, with no risk, and fail to provide detailed, written information.
If you are not sure if a coupon or program is legitimate, check things out by contacting the manufacturer or retailer direct, the coupon information corporation, or other consumer agencies.
There are a number of legitimate coupons that can help you save money.
Before you click and clip, take some precautions so that you do not get taken.
