MILWAUKEE - Did you pay for an order that never arrived?

Although you might be out the merchandise, you may not be out the money.

What can you do if the order never arrived?

First, contact the company that you placed the order with and ask about what they can do for you.

Some will only offer assistance with tracking the order, while others will replace the order and ship it overnight, or offer an immediate refund.

What do you do if you have already paid for the order, and cannot get the company to work with you?

If you paid with a credit card, contact the card issuer and dispute the charge as soon as you see it on your statement.

But, if you paid by check or money order, cash, or debit you could have a tougher time getting resolution.

However, do not just give up. Contact our Call 4 Action office for help.

How can you avoid problems with missing orders in the future?

• Before you place an order, make sure that you check out the reputation of the company with the Better Business Bureau or other consumer resources.

• Check out the terms and conditions and shipping policies.

• Keep a copy of the receipts or order forms used to place the order and be sure that you have a street address and phone number for the company.

• Avoid paying with check, debit, or money orders. Use a credit card.

This will offer the best protection for getting a refund if the order never arrives.
