Call 4 Action
Resolving a dispute with a retailer
MILWAUKEE - Did you ever buy something only to have it break down right after the expiration date for a return?
Although some retailers may hold strong to their return policies, there might be some things you can do to get help with a repair or replacement.
How do you get help with this kind of problem?
Depending on the circumstances, you might still be able to get help from the retailer. It is always best to contact them first to see if they will help.
Keep in mind, they may not be required to return, repair, or replace the item, and if they do, you could incur costs or be left with less of a product than what you purchased.
Can you get help from the manufacturer?
In most cases, yes - especially if the item is under warranty.
Before you send it back to the manufacturer, ask if they will pay for it.
If the cost is too high and it takes too long to get the item back, you could find that the offer made by the retailer is a better deal than working with the manuufacturer.
If you cannot get help with the retailer or manufacturer, what can you do?
If you paid with your credit card, contact your card issuer. Some will double the manufacturer's warranty and will send you a check for what you paid or will allow you to have the item repaired at another facility at no charge.
