JANESVILLE - The first-ever major party Presidential ticket member from Wisconsin expressed gratitude and pride about the effort to become Vice President alongside Mitt Romney, an effort that fell short.

"I am immensely proud of the campaign we ran, and I remain grateful to Governor Romney for the honor of being his running mate," said Janesville Republican Representative Paul Ryan.

He won re-election of Wisconsin's first congressional district, meaning that he will stay on his duties in the House of Representatives.

"I look forward to spending some time with my family in the coming days and then continuing my responsibilities as chairman of the House Budget Committee and representative of Wisconsin's First Congressional District."

President Barack Obama and running mate Joe Biden defeated the Romney/Ryan team in Tuesday's Presidential election.
