Ryan receives hometown send-off in Janesville before GOP convention
JANESVILLE - "It's good to be back home," said Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan at a rally the day before he departs to the Republican National Convention in Tampa.
The rally happened at Janesville Craig High School, his high-school alma mater.
"We're 5th-generation Janesville-area residents," explained Ryan during the rally.
"What is important is...our government works for the people and not the other way around. That's what this election is all about."
Mitt Romney picked Ryan as his running mate on August 11th.
Their first appearance together as a presumptive Presidential campaign ticket came in Waukesha, more than 60 miles from Ryan's hometown.
"We are picking a pathway for a generation," Ryan said at the Janesville rally Monday, 15 days after the Waukesha rally.
"When people are successful in business, that's a good thing. That's not something to resent...that's what makes America grow."
Ryan was slated to talk at the convention on Wednesday night. He will arrive Tuesday.
