Baldwin campaigns in Milwaukee for Senate bid against Thompson
MILWAUKEE - Madison Democratic Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin is ramping up her campaign as the general election phase of the U.S. Senate race begins.
She planned to be on the move early Wednesday in Milwaukee.
She was to speak at Helios, a solar module manufacturing facility, at 9:30 a.m.
On Tuesday night, Baldwin held her own event at the Highbury Pub in Bay View while the opposing party, the GOP, held their primary election. Tommy Thompson won that primary.
Baldwin ran unopposed for the Democratic side of the race.
She greeted and thanked supporters, all of whom seemed to be looking forward to November.
She made it clear that the next few months would be critical to getting elected to the U.S. Senate.
"The bottom line is that Wisconsinites everywhere want a senator who's going to fight for them, not for Wall Street and big banks, not for the big oil companies, not for the Tea Party, for them," said Baldwin.
