  • Bright and Blustery

A big difference in atmospheric pressure between the departing low that produced yesterday's rain and the approaching high will yield very strong winds yet again today. The contrast will be in the direction of the breeze. We've seen a shift to Northwesterly gusts ushering in a return to much cooler readings with the mercury topping out in the upper 40s to near 50 degrees this afternoon. Sunshine returns to the skies and the balance of the week looks to be dry. The next storm system reaches us on Saturday when there could be some substantial rainfall and even some thunderstorms.

  • Warmer & Windy With Showers Soon

Continued strong Southwest winds ahead of the next storm system will help to boost both temperatures and moisture into our region. Look for the mercury to rise even more than yesterday with highs reaching the low 60s. A cold front approaches this afternoon and evening. It will act as the trigger for scattered showers, though dry air in the lower levels of the atmosphere will delay the onset. That front will trigger another brief drop in temperatures for Wednesday, though high pressure will usher in a return to sunshine for midweek. Have a terrific Tuesday!

  • More mild air and now here comes the rain...

Clouds have developed with a few sprinkles overnight, but with brisk southwest winds we will see temperatures stay mild in the middle forties. As the next storm system approaches from the Dakotas, we'll see mostly cloudy skies and a chance for scattered showers for late Tuesday. Temperatures will stay in the low-sixties on Tuesday and the best chance for measurable rainfall hits Tuesday evening. Colder air returns again late Tuesday night and clears the skies for Wednesday, but high temperatures under sunny skies will only be around 50 degrees. Thursday will see temperatures back up into the lower-sixties.

  • Windy..Warmer

After a cold weekend and start to Monday, the forecast for Milwaukee, Waukesha and SE Wisconsin is for sunshine, lots of wind gusting over 30 mph and highs near 60. Clouds increase tonight and lows will only drop into the 40s with a SW wind up 15 mph.

  • Sunny and Warmer!

As high pressure works its way to our East, winds have shifted around to the Southwest. This will help boost our temperatures by at least 10 degrees compared to our chilly Sunday. The difference in pressure between the high and an approaching low will help produce very windy conditions, as well. In fact, those Southwest breezes could gust to 35 miles per hour. As the next storm system approaches from the Dakotas, we'll see an increase in clouds and a chance at some scattered showers for Tuesday. Have a great Columbus Day!

  • Freeze Warning Overnight, Windy Monday

The southeast Wisconsin, Waukesha and Milwaukee forecast for the rest of your Sunday night will have clear to partly cloudy skies. Lows will bottom out in the mid-30's for our lakefront communities and Milwaukee temperatures and around 30 for our inland areas and Waukesha temperatures. We have a FREEZE WARNING going right now.

  • Ups & Downs Upcoming

High pressure takes full control of our weather today. With plenty of dry air gradually scouring out the clouds, that means, eventually a lot of crisp, Autumn sunshine. After a couple days and nights in the "big chill" for this time of year, we'll start to notice some moderation in the mercury with a return flow of Southwesterly winds ahead of the next disturbance. Readings will at least return to near 50 degrees today and the low 60s for the beginning of the work week. The next chance for rain should hold off until late Tuesday into Tuesday night. Until then, the tranquil trend continues. Have a great Sunday and terrific work week!

  • Freeze Warning Overnight

The southeast Wisconsin, Waukesha and Milwaukee forecast for the rest of your Saturday night has freezing temperatures for plenty of people. Lows will bottom out in the low-30's for our lakefront communities and Milwaukee temperatures and upper-20's for our inland areas and Waukesha temperatures. Because of this, our friends at the National Weather Service have a FREEZE WARNING FOR OVERNIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING FOR THE WHOLE AREA. Clouds will be on the decrease.

  • Frosty Weekend

The first fall cold snap arrived today with highs in the lower 50s, a brisk wind and some clouds, and tomorrow morning will be the coldest of the season so far with lows in the 30s and even a few 20s well inland and widespread frost. The chill continues through the weekend with highs only in the upper 40s to lower 50s on Saturday and some clouds and a NW wind at 10-15 mph. Sunday will have more sun, less wind and highs in the lower 50s, but Saturday night will be even colder than tonight with lows near freezing in Milwaukee and 20s inland. The fall colors are peaking two weeks early, and the first frost of the season for Milwaukee is also about 2 weeks early. The average date for Milwaukee’s first frost is October 17. Extreme northern Wisconsin will get 1-3" of snow tonight and a few flurries are possible Saturday morning as far south as the Fox River Valley, but no snow in Milwaukee.. However, Saturday is the anniversary of the earliest measurable snow in recorded history for Milwaukee with 0.1” back in 1889. We do get back to normal temps on Monday and Tuesday with highs in the lower 60s before another cold front drops us into the 50s for the rest of next week. Like it or not, fall is here.

  • A Cool Stretch

The southeast Wisconsin, Waukesha and Milwaukee forecast for the rest of your Friday will have much cooler temperatures with a brisk wind. Some high and mid level clouds will pass on by as the day wears on. Highs will only top out in the mid-50's.

  • The BIG Dip!

With the passage of last night's cold front a much, much cooler Canadian air mass will settle over the upper Midwest and Great Lakes including right here in Southeast Wisconsin. Temperatures have plummeted and after highs approaching 80 degrees yesterday, we'll barely reach the low 50s today with readings even a few degrees cooler for the weekend. Look for patchy frost all across the area tonight and tomorrow night. On the positive side, high pressure takes over and ushers in another stretch of dry weather with some sunshine right through the beginning of next week. Have a great Friday and a terrific weekend!

  • Scattered Showers, then Much Colder

The southeast Wisconsin, Waukesha and Milwaukee forecast for the rest of your Thursday will have scattered showers or even a T'storm developing. Highs will top out in the upper-70's where there's more sun, but cooling down closer to that strong cold front.

  • Windy and warm Thursday, sunny and chilly on Friday...

Clouds and sprinkles and some fog will be around tonight with mild low temperatures in the upper-forties to mid-fifties. The next storm system is strengthening to our Northwest, sinking out of Canada. A strong surface cold front gets support from a strengthening upper level low. Temperatures will surge into the middle seventies on Thursday, ahead of the boundary, before it triggers some afternoon showers and thunderstorms with strong winds. Those breezes will shift to the West-Northwest, quickly clear out the rain, and send our temperatures plummeting. Readings inland Friday morning will drop to the mid-thirties and even with some daytime sunshine have a tough time breaking beyond the lower or mid-fifties during the day. Quiet but very chilly air stays in place for the weekend, and Milwaukee could see the first official freezing temperature by Sunday morning.

  • Temps should reach seventies in Milwaukee area Thursday

Thursday will be warm across the southeast part of the state as strong southwest winds ahead of a cold front brings temperatures in the seventies to the Milwaukee area.

  • A Jump, A Dip, & Some Drops

We're sandwiched between two storm systems today. An upper level low continues tracking to our East and we'll see some additional clouds with the potential of a few sprinkles or showers brushing Southeast Wisconsin. The next storm system is strengthening to our Northwest, sinking out of Canada. The strong surface cold front gets support from a strengthening upper level low. Temperatures will surge into the 70's on Thursday, ahead of the boundary, before it triggers some afternoon showers and thunderstorms with strong winds. Those breezes will shift to the West-Northwest, quickly clear out the rain, and send our temperatures plummeting. Readings inland Friday morning will drop to near freezing and even with some daytime sunshine have a tough time breaking beyond the lower 50s. Quiet but very chilly air stays in place for the weekend. Have a great Wednesday!

  • Great Day

The forecast for Milwaukee, Waukesha and SE Wisconsin is for more sunshine today and highs in the mid 60s along the lake and near 70 inland...the Pick Day of the Week. Lows tonight drop back into the 40s with a few inland areas in the 30s with patchy fog.

  • Sunshine Today, Changes Coming

The remarkably dry stretch of weather continues today with a return to more sunshine as high pressure builds in from the West. The next disturbance will march our way tomorrow and Thursday in the form of a warm air surge followed by a cool front. That combined with some upper level support could trigger a few sprinkles or showers, though nothing significant should land in area rain gauges tomorrow. There's a better chance for more significant hit and miss showers and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon. The week should finish with more sunshine, but a big drop in temperatures. The jet stream takes a big dip to our South by Friday allowing for much cooler air into next weekend. Have a great Tuesday!

  • More mild air for Tuesday and Wednesday before a cold front brings in autumn...

Clouds from a storm to our south over the Ohio valley have been moving over southeast Wisconsin and will continue tonight. Low temperatures will be in the mid to upper-forties. High temperatures on Tuesday through Thursday will be in the mid-sixties to low-seventies. Moisture from a storm system from the south arrives midweek and gives us our best chance of rain, mainly during the day on Wednesday. Even then, the chances of any significant precipitation are slim since the air close to the surface remains extremely dry. There is a strong cold front moving out of Canada tomorrow and will be pushing this way for Thursday. We will notice a much cooler air mass building in behind it for the end of the week and into next weekend ushering high temperatures back down in the low to mid 50s.

  • Gradual Changes Coming

The pattern of sunshine, dry, and seasonally warm weather will begin to change this week, gradually. There are several upper level disturbances which will push through the region over the next few days. Ahead of the first wave, we'll notice more high, thin clouds today filtering the sunshine. The next potential disturbance arrives midweek and gives us our best chance of rain. Even then, though, the chances of any significant precipitation are slim since the air close to the surface remains extremely dry. We will notice a much cooler air mass building in by the end of the week and into next weekend ushering high temperatures in the low to mid 50s. Have a great week ahead!
