Last mild day before temps tumble

CREATED Jan 19, 2013

This morning will be the best start to any day in the 7 day planner with mild temperatures and a lighter wind.  Highs top out in the low 40s in southeast Wisconsin.  An arctic cold front swings through this evening, bringing a slight chance of some light drizzle and a few flurries mainly to our northern counties.  What everyone will feel however, is the winds increasing throughout the day, really amplified by this evening when a wind advisory goes into effect.  We could see wind gusts topping 45 mph overnight tonight, and since the winds switch from the WNW behind the front, temperatures are going to drastically tumble.

As we've been talking about, the frigid temperatures arrive tonight, lows will drop into the single digits inland and with that nasty wind it will feel more like -5 to -15 to start Sunday morning.  And temperatures don't climb much on Sunday, the coldest air of the season will invade with highs only reaching the teens and it will still be windy, making it feel colder.  Winds stay strong as temperatures continue to slide down close to zero on Sunday night, wind chills will be between -5 and -15 degrees.  It will be bone chilling cold on Monday with highs in the single digits above zero, though the wind again knocks chills below zero.  It will be dangerously cold Monday night with sub-zero lows and wind chill values between -15 and -30 degrees, not a night to be outdoors.

A slight bump in temperatures is expected for the latter half of the work week with the next chance for snow on Thursday and into Friday.
