Big Storm

Today is the calm before the storm so the forecast for Milwaukee, Waukesha and SE Wisconsin is for clouds, a light breeze and highs in the mid to upper 30s as the warm front passes through.

The storm moves into the state this evening and easterly winds will increase overnight to 15-35 mph.  Look for snow in Fond du Lac, Dodge and Jefferson counties overnight with 2-5" of accumulation.  Less than an inch of accumulation by morning is expected in Waukesha and just rain tonight in Milwaukee and areas to the south.  While inland areas see heavy snow all day on Thursday, Milwaukee and south will have rain through at least noon.  Look for it to change to a mix in the early afternoon and then become all snow late afternoon and through the evening hours.  The temperature is crucial for the lakefront as to when it becomes snow and how much we get for accumulation especially with highs near 40 tomorrow.

Look for 10-15" of snow in Fond du lac, Dodge and Jefferson counties, 6-10" from Ozaukee to Walworth and 2-6" from the lakefront to Waukesha and areas south...the lighter amounts closer to the lake.  Winds will be increasing to 30-45 mph during the day and the blizzard warning goes into effect at 12pm for those areas.

The snow stops around midnight, and Friday morning will be clear and cold with lows in the teens and wind chills near 0.  Friday is sunny and windy with highs only in the upper 20s and that lasts through the weekend so there will be a white Christmas.
