The forecast for Milwaukee, Waukesha and SE Wisconsin is for light snow today with a Winter Weather Advisory until 9pm with 1-2" of accumulation...mainly on the grassy surfaces. This will end the streak in Milwaukee at 288 days without measurable snow. The snow will taper off this evening with cloud sand lows near 30 along the lake and mid 20s inland.
Wednesday will be mostly cloudy and mild with highs near 49 as the big storm system approaches form the southwest. It's that mild weather that makes this forecast still tricky for Milwaukee and areas south. Wednesday night will be a rain snow mix with 1-3" of accumulation west of Waukesha and north, with little to no accumulation for Milwaukee and areas south...that area will see a lot of rain. The rain continues into late morning on Thursday for Milwaukee and south with highs near 40. Meanwhile, area sto the north will have heavy snow with an additional 4-9" of snow...the heaviest will be Dodge, Fond du lac and Sheboygan counties with total accumulations approaching 8-12". The rain will change to snow in Milwaukee and areas south with 1-3" of snow Thursday afternoon and very gusty winds. All of SE Wisconsin, except Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha are under a Winter Storm Watch for Wednesday night and Thursday.
As of now, the bulls eye for this storm is central Wisconsin with 12-20" of snow.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be cold with highs in the 20s and lows in the teens.
